Jan Nevelius Shihan, 7th Dan Aikikai, is based at Vanadis Aikido Dojo in Stockholm, Sweden and has practiced Aikido for over 40 years. His main teachers are Endo Shihan and Tissier Shihan. He has also trained with, and has been strongly influenced by, Osawa Shihan and Hermansson Shihan. Nevelius Sense emphasizes connection, soft ukemi, and an approach to Aikido as never-ending research.

Each registration package is for a single person and cannot be shared.

Safety

Providing a culture of safe practice is paramount to us. For that reason, we limit the size of classes to ensure sufficient mat space for attendees.

In accordance with state and CDC guidelines, vaccination is no longer required and masking is optional.

Refund Policy

Refunds for cancelled registration will be available through September 4; after that, refunds will be available if we can fill your spot from our waitlist.

Refunds for cancelled registrations will be subject to a 10% cancellation charge.

Housing

We can make some sleeping arrangements for out-of-town guests. Please contact us at [email protected].

The Silver Cloud Hotel (Broadway) is convenient for the weekend seminar at Seattle Central College and not too far from Aikido Seattle dojo, though we also suggest checking AirBnB and other vacation rental sites.

Parking

There is limited pay parking on streets until 8 pm. There is a $15 full-day weekend rate for the following nearby lot:

Seattle Central Community College - Harvard Garage

1609 Harvard Ave, Seattle, WA 98122
(206) 284-3100

More options can be found here:

Party

Please join us Saturday night for a catered party.

If you wish to eat the catered food, please pre-pay online on the seminar registration page by Sunday, October 15. Gluten-free and vegan options will be available. Please BYO drinks and dessert.

The party will be hosted in the Laurelhurst neighborhood, starting at 7:00 pm (directions will be provided). Please note that there is a Washington Huskies football game that night which will significantly impact traffic. We recommend consulting a realtime route mapping service like Google Maps to find the best way to get there. You should avoid crossing the Montlake bridge and the University District.

Mat Moving

On Friday afternoon, starting at 3:30 pm, we will be moving mats from Aikido Seattle to Seattle Central College. If you are available at either end, we would love the help. We should arrive at the College about 4:30 pm

On Sunday following the seminar, we will return mats to Aikido Seattle. We would welcome as much help as is available in doing so. We will leave Seattle Central about 1 pm.

Other Logistics

You will not need weapons.

You may arrange daytime practice with other attendees at Aikido Seattle (Tue-Thu).

Please hand in your yudansha book by Saturday noon at the registration desk, if you wish it to be signed.

Please wear footwear between locker room and mat.

There are a lot of good food options for Saturday lunch in walking distance from the training space.
